PATXI MELGAREJO

I am a visual artist who works with different tecniques, materials and supports without excluding any spatial posibility of creation. But I would sincerily like to think I am only an artisan of images and, at best, a catcher of this mirage what an idea is made.

 

Because of this conception about creation, my work navigate over the apparent existing contradiction between the objets and the words, between the real things (what everybody can see, or smell or hear or taste...) and the language that name them, trying to look into the images that we construct in our minds when we sense these things through our bodies and how they are modified by everything we call culture, high or low, inherited or learned in the time we live.

 

So, it's necessary for me, in some way, producing changes in the places where I 'm working, either a room or a wall, a wardrove or a canvas, while  I'm photographing some landscapes, or objets, or people, or painting, or writing about it, only with the aim of finding a determinate order of these elements that participe in the scene, so that ends up being a comprehensible account on itself.

 

I'm only trying to find the correct place where anything belongs, maybe because I'm trying to find the place where I belong.

 

Although I know this purpose perhaps will be impossible, sometimes it's also very funny to see the inmense posibilities of new realities, and the new places, real or imaginary, that appear to stay and realize ourselves, like an oasis in the middle of the dessert, where we can always come back to look for those children eyes with which once we saw the world when nobody and nothing, had yet damaged us.
